We will be staying there for five days until 15th July 2018. Actually we only managed our budget until the end of our stay in Sozopol. But, three days before we left Sozopol for Sofia, we asked money from the parents to secure the bus to Sofia. So, we can continue our journey and know whether we can complete the journey or not by the end of our stay in Sofia on 19th of July.

From the experiences of other projects, if the project reaches 60%, it will most likely reach the goal. Our target is to reach 60% of the goal on half of the campaign time on 16th July 2018. With that we can believe that we will succeed at the end of the campaign, and finish our grand journey.

Prolog

Angklung is traditional musical instrument, made of bamboo. Originally from West Java, Indonesia. It has been recognised by UNESCO as one of world’s intangible cultural heritage. Angklung is a collective instrument. One piece of angklung only produces one note. To play a complete song we need many people. They have to work together harmoniously to produce a proper song. So, everyone in angklung’s group matters. Nobody is more important than the other.

In 2002 Maulana founded Angklung Hamburg Orchestra (AHO) while he was studying there. Adrian amongst the first members of the orchestra. He was still at secondary school at that time. He fell in love with Angklung and carried on to look after the group till now where he is in charge as the music director.

Early this year Maulana called Adrian, inviting him to join the grand journey of Tim Muhibah Angklung to eight European countries as a member of documentary team. Tim Muhibah Angklung will participate in three international festivals in Aksehir (Turkey), Sozopol (Bulgaria) and Visoko (Bosnia Herzegovina) with the aims to promote angklung further to wider international audience.

One week before the journey, the sponsor pulled out from the project. The team had to face the fact that there was no funding and the project has to be cancelled.

As the leader of the team, Maulana insisted that the team has to go to Europe. He believe this project will find the path to complete the journey. If we cancel the journey, not only we will disappoint many festivals, but also, most importantly, we have to save the kids who have been working hard for the past one year, preparing for this journey. If we cancel it, it means we will break their hearts, that will have a long lasting effect to them, psychologically.

At the last attempt, the team managed to secure the fund for the flight ticket and half of the journey. So, the team decided to carry on and flew to Europe with the hope that they can find some fund to cover the cost along the journey. This Kickstarter project is one of our efforts to secure the funding, so we can complete our journey.
